Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

Good evening.
I have a Lenovo G460 20041 its cooler turns 100% on any task up to idle.
Reading some texts on the internet some people recommend to upgrade to Bios and give unofficial source links do not like to use this type of link
Would you like to know why Lenovo does not provide update for Bios of this notebook?
Update to Bios is solution for the cooler to turn 100% full time up in Idle
Could someone give me a tip of what to do
Thanks for listening.

Bios update is not required for this product - Notebook, Desktop

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

Do you have a 460 or 460E?

See Majestic post below for BIOS update in EOL support.

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

Good afternoon
G460 only has no Letter E on its label.
I at the official site also can not find Bios to update in Find Your Product
Only has G460e that is not my model.
Reading some tutorials on high rotation of the cooler in the model g460 is indicated the downgrade of Bios or update so that cooler does not keep working at maximum speed all the time.
I would download the Bios file from the Official site.
Thanks for listening.

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

I would download HW monitor from here and check sensor temps.

http://www.cpuid.com/news/55-hwmonitor-1-32.html

Due to the age of your machine (circa 2010), you may have other issues.

(1)dirt inside fan

(2)thermal paste has worn out

(3)something causing high machine temps, etc.

(4)defective sensor

I do understand SOME BIOS updates fix excessive FAN ON.

See post below for latest BIOS.

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Gave !

Along with Sclexman's advice there is a BIOS update available for the G460 model.  Due to the age of the laptop all the downloads for that model have been moved to the Legacy EOL Support area which can be found at the link below.....

https://download.lenovo.com/eol/index.html

BIOS version 38 is the upgrade available for download  and it includes the following fix.....

Summary of changes
==================
General Information:

29CN38WW

Fixed fan always running after waking up from sleep

For your reference, the BIOS upgrade's README can be found at the link below....

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

The Legacy EOL download section is an official Lenovo Support site.  No need to worry.

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

Being with NIWEx215_X64 downloaded is just running on the right machine need to be connected to the web to do the update?
One last doubt is it possible to do the update for the bios itself outside the windows or in some qflash programs ?
If you have correctly entered this NIWE file, it downloads the BIOS so it is not necessary to have a hash test to verify the integrity of the NIWEx215 file.
Thanks for listening.

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

The BIOS update is a stand alone program.  There is no need to be connected to the Internet in order to do the upgrade.

According to the BIOS upgrade's README file it has installation information for Windows only.  I am not sure if the update will run in QFlash or not as I have no experience with QFlash or this particular BIOS upgrade.   Someone else may come along with a different opinion.

Due to the age of the download I doubt there is any hash tag information available.  I can assure you that the download from the Lenvo Legacy EOL website is coming direct from Lenovo.

Re: Lenovo G460 Update Bios ?

Dear moderator I tried to perform the update I received the following message:
The version of Rom File is not newer than Bios.
After receiving this message I rode the speecy I wrote down this data about Bios that is currently installed is 29CN40W V.2.17
Rev 3.5
Because already running to a new Rom the cooler is running at 100% full time
After Boot when it loads the operating system it already starts to run like there was no tomorrow
Thanks for listening.
