Lenovo G470 trouble

Hi. I own a lenovo g470 ideapad. the problem is that my DVD RW optiarc ad-7580s drive appears to my system as a CD drive and cannot write on blank DVD's or CD's but it reads the content of a CD or DVD drive. I already went to the store where I bought it and they already replace my DVD drive from samsung to optiarc ad-7580s. After the reformat, its all working well, but when I updated windows 7 and applied all the updates, the same problem occurs again. What could be the problem? please help. thanks in advance

hey desynch,

from what you have mentioned; i believe an update from windows 7 is overriding a file/driver that identifies the Optiarc as an optical writer.

i recommend getting in contact with optiarc and to check with them if they have any patch for this.
