Lenovo G50‑45 80E3 not charging?

2016-12-28, 20:58 PM

I left it charging overnight because the battery was dead but it didn't charge at all. The only way I can use it is by leaving it connected to the charger. There's an orange light that keeps on blinking near the battery symbol. Any help would be appreciated.

can u tell me how much percentage is it getting charged?

is it 50% or 60% or else?

check whether it is in 'conservation mode' then change it other 'power saving or balanced or high performance mode'

because conservation mode will allow u to only upto 50% of charging only and will not charge further.

so open 'lenovo energy manager' and change it another mode.

Hi there, Mnunez                    -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

Update us how it goes.

Uninstall the Lenovo Energy Manager (if installed). Download the newest version available, install it and then reboot the system.

Post back with results.

Hi, It did not work. Thanks!!!

I brought the Lenovo laptop to technical assistance and they told me the motherboard is failing and needs to be replaced....

I hope Lenovo would provide the new board to have the laptop charging the battery again...

It is a pity... and expensive inconvenient...

If under warranty, pull the hard drive to save your data then send it in for repair with a note enclosed with the findings.

If out of warranty, and you have mechanical skills you could try to order and replace the motherboard your self. Usually an Egg Carton for screws, the manual from Lenovo Support and a phone or camera to take pictures of the way "in" to help with the way "out" is a good thing to do.

Also - anytime one works on electronics, remember to mind ESD as it is the silent killer of all things electrical.
