Lenovo G50-45 Problems

So I got a Lenovo G50-45 from Best Buy. I got it on sale for $175. When I first used it, I noticed it was very slow. A couple weeks after, the computer crashed. It had just froze up. I turned it on, and it wouldn't even let me log in. It just tried doing an automatic repair, said it failed, repeat. I figured it was the hard drive, so I ordered a new one from Newegg. I put it in, it recognized, got it all started up, registered Windows 8.1, and everything was just fine. Until I logged in. It was super slow, and there was no Wi-Fi. It said it was connected, but it never utilized it. I'm trying to startbitbup using the original hard drive, but it's on the Lenovo screen saying "Preparing Automatic Repair". I've taken out the RAM and put it back in. I've tried both slots. I have no idea how to fix this.

Re: Lenovo G50-45 Problems

Hi blakeschroder2  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It may help running diagnostics using bootable LSC (Lenovo Solution Center).

Freshen up the machine by unplugging the ac cord , removing the battery and pressing the power button down for 12 seconds to drain flea power from the laptop.

With the new harddrive, connect the ac cord and battery then use the Novo button ( item2 page 9) to load the BIOS from the Novo Menu. Load defaults then save and exit . Check how it goes.

Using the original harddrive inside , power drain again and boot to the diagnostics to check the hardwares.

You do have option to factory reset (page26 One Key Recovery) the original machine (healthy harddrive partition) that would delete the C drive and reimage it anew . Try using a local admnistrator instead of a Microsoft account on initial set up  . This would allow us to isolate probable software issues.

Update us how it goes best for you.

Regards

Re: Lenovo G50-45 Problems

Hello Blakeschroder2

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

So is the computer just stuck on the automatic repair screen?

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
