Lenovo G50-45 hard drive crashed twice

2017-06-17, 23:31 PM

My hard drive crashed last year and it was replaced last year by Lenovo. Again, a year later crashed again. Can I buy a had hard drive outside and install the OS myself. Unfortunately, I do not have the recovery dvd and I do not have a copy of Win 10 when I upgraded last year before the deadline for free upgrade. Any suggestion will be helpful.

Thanks.

Hi BinoMac88

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes, you may get a different harddrive ( maybe a different harddrive manufaturer than the other two that failed) and clean install Windows 10 by downloading the installer using Windows Media Creation tool.

Before you start, it would be best that you have your digital product key associated with your Microsoft account following this guideline. This digital key is transferable to any harddrive even when the systemboard is replaced.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Hi @BinoMac88

This may some times cause due to the Latest Windows 10 update. Even i had faced the same kind of Issue recently after updating my Windows 10 operating system. Once revert back and check if the problem is solved. For me, Downgrading to the previous version resolved the issue. Mostly it should work... If not, try any of the below methods to contact Microsoft Tech Support directly...

Microsoft Online Support:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/

Microsoft Forum: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us

How to Get Help in Windows 10: https://windowscall.com/how-to-get-help-in-windows-10/

To get help immediately, You can also press "F1" in your Windows 10 for Quick Assistance !!

I hope this might be helpful.. :)
