Lenovo G50-70 HDMI blank screen

I am trying to connect my Lenovo G50-70 HDMI output to my 32" Olevia flatscreen tv.  I know the cord is good because I can connect my old computer's HDMI to the TV and it works fine.  When I hook up my Lenovo it says "invalid format".  I have tried updating the latest Intel VGA drivers from the lenovo support downloads.  I've tried changing the resolution before connecting but that does little.  Nothing seems to work.

Re: Lenovo G50-70 HDMI blank screen

Hi pcrats33,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Still I would suggest getting a Different HDMI Cable

HDMI Cable has diff. types and speed. The one you have right now might not be  compatible with the system.

I suggest bringin the system to a Local Computershop and tryout some of the HDMI Cables.

Regards

Re: Lenovo G50-70 HDMI blank screen

I got the same HDMI cable working with my pc connected to another TV that's a little newer.  I plug it in to my Olevia 232-T12  32" tv hdmi port and the screen goes black and the TV says invalid format in the bottom left.  Cord works with the tv too because my old computer's hdmi output works fine with it.  I've tried the latest intel drivers, and it the pc is intel cpu so I assume it's not amd video on the motherboard.  I've tried setting the screen resolution to 1366 x 768 on my laptop before plugging in the HDMI, but it doesn't help.  Installing the AMD video drivers may be my next step, i've installed the intel vga driver twice to no avail.

Re: Lenovo G50-70 HDMI blank screen

you have stated old computer and the hdmi ports will differ in speed so try a newer hdmi cable one that is 1.4 or better (or i have had it on one pc change ends around dont ask me why it worked but it did)

are you extending or duplicating or making it main screen when you are testing
Thx dave
