Lenovo G50-70 RAM compatibility

Windows Task Manager says that there are 4 RAM slots, but I can see only two.

 

Anyway, I bought a 4 GB Kingston RAM (DDR3L, 1600MHz) and installed it myself as my laptop is out of warranty.

Now, I have 8GB RAM. Both the modules are installed.

 

When I run memory intensive applications, the OS crashes and gives a blue screen. 

I'm not sure what I did wrong. Please assist.

Welcome to the Community Forums. 

 

As per hardware specification (page26):

DDR3L, SODIMM × 1 / SODIMM × 2 (max 8GB/ 16GB)

 

This is similar to those listed OEM recommended RAM (item 12 page 80).

DDR3L low voltage with 1.35 volts like the old RAM .

 

Try to check if the Kingston 99U5469-045.A00LF for its voltage as its shows DDR 1.5 volts on ebay.

You can use tools to check like this.

 

Task manager and other tools may see 4 slots RAM as it reads CPU capability but not the physical slot available on each model machines.

 

Update us how it goes.

 Update: Windows Memory Diagnostics found no issues! Is it a software issue? I'm​ running the latest Windows 10 creators update with Windows Update on... And I heard that the latest updates create trouble for some people as MS recently pushed a Dev build of Windows to normal users :((

Using KVR16LS11/4 do match specifications for a DDR3 low voltage.

Would that also be the same using tools like CPU-Z as Windows memory test passed. 

 

About Windows Creators version, G50-70 is not listed among the tested compatible model.

Try updating chipsets and BIOS if needed and restart.

 

On the hardware side, exchange the original and new RAM slot positions and check if possible.

Test the old RAM alone if the same BSOD happens.

Try using the just the new RAM and observe.
