Lenovo G50 70 battery problem

2017-01-21, 19:26 PM

Hello,

I've got both windows 8.1 and ubuntu 15.10 on my laptop (I made a partition of the disk some time ago) and the battery won't charge on both of them. For example in windows if I click on the battery icon it says "5% available (plugged in, charging)". I've tried to shutdown the computer, remove the battery for a while, reinsert it and turn the computer on again (or turn on and reinsert) but it didn't work. It's been two weeks now i'm in this situation and i can't find a solution.

I'd really appreciate suggestions, thanks!

Hi ritam and welcome to the community,

It sounds like your battery may be failing which is why it is not recharging, you can try a static discharge which sometimes works to correct the issue, but i believe that you will require a new battery.

A static discharge can attempt to resolve this problem, and below are some instructions on how to perform this:

1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this help you and let us know how you get on

Thanks for your answer, I tried to do as you said but it didn't work. I ordered a new battery, in a few days i'll let you know if that was actually the problem.

Buying a new battery didn't solve the problem! What else can I try?
