Hello I am trying a power gauge reset in the first instance but wanted to find out if the battery is covered under the warranty as it shows plugged in charging but does not go above 8%

To answer your question first.
(Yes the battery is covered under the Base warranty of 1 Year)
Also try this step as this helped other with battery problems
1. Turn OFF the Computer and Remove th AC adapter (Leave the battery connected)
2. TURN the computer back ON and start hitting F2 (This will boot the computer into BIOS)
3. Let the computer ON inside the BIOS and let it turn off by itself due to Battery loss of Power.
4. Now charge the battery again and check.
