Lenovo G50-80 Broadcom WiFI adapter and driver

2015-09-24, 8:45 AM

Hello,

We have several WiFi access points at our institution and they are configured with the same SSID to make roaming possible. I have configured the G50-80 WiFi adapter (Broadcom 802.11n) with roaming decision = optimize bandwidth i.e. to start looking for another access point when signal strength below -60dB and with roaming tendency = High i.e. to start roam when an access point si found with a signal strength 10 dB above the current. As far as I understand this should make roaming happen but NOTHING happens at all. The G50-80 computer still is looked to the old access point altought the signal strength i -90dB from that access point and there is another closer access point with signal strength of - 40dB. Anyone that have succeeded in making the G50-80 laptop to roam between access points?

Bernhard

Just to complement with driver information:

The used Windows 10 driver has version 6.30.223.201 dated 2013-11-11 digitaly signed by Microsoft.

Looking at the Lenovo download there is a newer version BCM_7.35.295.2 dated 2015-08-18. The later version is of course not digitaly signed by Microsoft so I am not sure if it will work on Windows 10.
