I wanted to upgrade my RAM in Lenovo G50-80 from 8GB(2x4) to 12GB(1x4 and 1x8). Since in my laptop I had Elixir SODIMM 4GB, DDR3, 1600Mhz (M2S4G64CC88D5N-DI), I decided to buy another one from the same brand, which is Elixir SODIMM 8GB, DDR3 1600Mhz (M2S8G64CB8HB5N-DI). The problem here is that my laptop does not see this memory stick. Wherever I check (f.e. BIOS) it says I have only 4GB RAM. In specs it is said that for my laptop it is possible to have max 16GB (2x8) RAM, so I do not know where am I doing a mistake. I even tried to change slots for both sticks, but nothing happens, so It is not problem with slot.
Am i forgetting something? Should I do something more here to make my new stick working?

Hi spidey101, thank You for answer. Still I would like to clarify.
Why should I but DDR3L (You even wrote something about DDR4L?) while I have been using DDR3 before. Both sticks:
- the old one with 4GB, and
- the new one with 8GB
are DDR3, so I do not get why my laptop does not see new memory stick.
If I buy new 8GB DDR3L is it going to be compatibile with old 4GB DDR3?
What I can do here is to change new stick, I do not want to replace old one. Is it possible that the old one blocks new from working properly?

Sorry for the typo, that should be DDR3L (with Low voltage 1.35V).
The original 4GB ram is ddr3 L (M2S4G64CC88D5N- with Low voltage 1.35V) and you do not need to replace it.
The new 8GB ram (M2S8G64CB8HB5N) may be 1.5 volts that is causing the non detection issue. Try getting another 8GB SODIMM DDR3L 1600Mhz with lower voltage 1.35V.

sclexman, I have Win10 64-bit. The processor is Intel Core i7-5500U
I tried today to run my laptop only with this new memory stick and it did not work at all. So it looks like Spidey101 and CBHendricks are right and this memory stick is not going to work for me.
So, thank you all for help, I will get another memory stick and I hope this time it is going to work. If there is something I should also consider while buying new one, please tell me.
