Re: Lenovo G50-80 battery drain upto 6% after 50%

Hi Abdul,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Method 1:

Go to Device manager >>Battery and then uninstall the Microsoft ACPI- Compliant control method Battery and then restart and check...

Method 2:

Go to Energy Manager >> Maintenance Guide>> Gauge reset by plugging in the Adapter and leave it as it is.... This Gauge reset will charge the battery for 100% and then drains it to 0 % and then gives the pop up to restart... After restarting it should be fine....

Method 3: Use the One Key recovery...

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,

Shashi

Re: Lenovo G50-80 battery drain upto 6% after 50%

Hi Abdul,

Running the Gauge Reset procedure causes the laptop to intentionally run its battery down until it is almost completely drained and then fully recharge it. This allows it to take new measurements of the voltages at each point in the charge cycle. The Gauge Reset procedure has no effect on the amount of power the battery holds, only the accuracy of the laptop's measurements.

If your laptop is only four months old, it's unlikely that a Gauge Reset needs to be performed, but it won't seriously harm the battery, and neither will cancelling the procedure.

To optimize the lifespan of your battery, it’s best not to fully drain it on a regular basis, so don't run the Gauge Reset more often than needed. I recommend selecting the option to have the computer notify you when the Gauge Reset needs to be performed, and only run it when the software tells you it's needed.

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,

Shashi

Re: Lenovo G50-80 battery drain upto 6% after 50%

I bought lenovo g50-80 yesterday. It's battery works fine upto 50% when fully charged but then drops to 6 % suddenly from 50% . When I charged only 40 % then again it drains to 6% from 29% .

Re: Lenovo G50-80 battery drain upto 6% after 50%

If your battery is over a year old (check the date on the battery itself) then a new replacement may be needed.

All notebook batteries are "intelligent" devices, that is there is embedded circuitry that controls charge / discharge rates. The battery reset procedure will allow that circuitry to better use the battery cells, and reset the "gauge" that tells the computer what is left.

Lastly - when the battery is near it's end of life, the "bottom" of the battery will fail first, causing the quick drop to 6% that you are seeing.

A replacement battery can be obtained thru the Lenovo Support channel, and may be covered under warranty if your notebook is still within it's warranty period.
