Lenovo G50-80 laggy in games

Hi ,

I bought my lenovo G50-80 (i7 , 4 GB RAM , AMD RADEON M330 , windows 10) back in November . At first the only issue I had was with playing videos(offline&online) after watching half a movie my pc usually froze , made an annoying sound and I had to restart it everytime . I  recently fixed the issue by changing some options in the Power Management settings ,before figuring out the issue I've reinstalled my windows 6-7 times . Games were always running smoothly even on high resolution .

Recently , since I last changed y windows ,my laptop has developed another issue :  whenever I try playing a game (like Heroes of the Storm , Prototype or NFS Hot pursuit ) everything seems to be going fine in the menus but once I start playing instantly I start lagging to the point where I can see frames every 2-3 seconds . I have all my drivers up-to-date and I've also reinstalled Direct X , framenet and C++ redistributable to see if it would fix the issue , no changes .

Does anyone have any idea on how I might get this issue solved ?

Thanks

Re: Lenovo G50-80 laggy in games

Hi MariusOG ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If simple graphic apps like prototype would lag the performance even after Windows 10 factory install with all updates , probable best to check on the hardwares.

While running the program you can launch the diagnostics to best place a stress test on the devices.

You can run both diagnostics LSC and another temperature monitoring software similar to this

Update us at it goes or call in tech support for recommendation specially if there's a remarkable error / findings as the test reveals .

Regards

Re: Lenovo G50-80 laggy in games

OK , so I tested my pc with the softwared , everything passed .

In game when i check the settings it shows my AMD RADEON as my default graphics card but when I check the CPUID HWMonitor , the graphics card running the game is the INTEL HD graphics 5500 .

So I put my power option on high performance  , changed settings in Catalyst to high performance , no changes , the games are laggier than ever . I have 1 fps .

I even took it a step further thinking that windows 10 may not be optimal for this laptop as the cd that came with it was for 8.1 . I went ahead installed windows again and all the drivers from the manufacturer's cd . no changes , the pc is running even slower . I've read a lot of threads with this issue , so far no solutions found . I also checked in BIOS to make sure that the discrete option was selected for the graphic card.  Also I had a lenovo G550 before , Heroes of the storm actually runs with more frames on that laptop than on my i7 , which is very dissapointing. Also after checking the games requirements , found out that it can run with Intel HD Graphics 3000 Mobile , so even if it's running on the integrated graphics , it shouldn't have any problems.

Re: Lenovo G50-80 laggy in games

Hi MariusOG ,

Greetings.

So hardware all test passed and no overheating.

Would you be able to run an offline game / video on a clean boot ?

If you would have the same lagging then it would be best to call in tech support for recommendation . Depot repair can run overall stress test to isolate further and do necessary repair as needed since same issue is happening even after reinstallation of OS both Win8 and Win10.

Update us how it goes.

Regards
