I have a Lenovo G500 (59370250) laptop with Intel Pentium CPU B960 @ 2.20GHz processor. The machine is OK with few simple applications but starts hanging with heavier applications like Google Chrome, MSWord, etc.
I tried having a total of 4GB RAM but that is not helping either. The CPU shoots upto 100% and the machine does not respond for several minutes.
Will it be possible to upgrade the motherboard or processor to i3 or i5 in this one?

Hi sukhjinder ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Similar to your query is this discussion for possible upgrade for your model.
Herewith is the hardware manual for your model .
Do take time to review the upgrade and verify same conditions in yours for the compatible processor upgrade.
Update us how it would work best for you .
***edited notes ***
As some would work ,do take note of the chipset you have.
With machine number 59370250 I use to check on the parts look up shows :
90002836 VIWGR MB UMA HM70 L SYSTEM BOARDS
Intel HM70 Express chipset processor support may limit you to celeron and pentium upgrades.
Best if there is a spare to test it with otherwise check return options if you are willing to try.

Already get i5-2430m, much better performance(stock b960) but
Turbo boost not working at all.
Intel turbo boost manager sais "your processor does not support Intel Turbo Boost technology"
in the BIOS there is no item Intel Turbo Boost and anything like that.
Does this model(g500) supports this feature?
If not - planning to add?
P.S. BIOS version 2.03(latest)

Hi DetroitLen ,
With a compatible chipsets with your current upgrade , i5-2430m advance feature includes Intel® Turbo Boost Technology ‡ 2.0 but it may be a BIOS OEM limitation with the turbo boost as others tried modifying it.
Do take note that modding is risky and may brick your machine .
