Lenovo G500 Limited Connectivity on Wifi

2015-09-16, 22:27 PM

Hi, I am hoping someone here can help me with an issue. I have a Lenovo G500 Laptop which is around 18 months old. The laptop has no issues and was connecting to the network until about 2 weeks ago. Now, I am unable to connect to my wifi network at home. I constantly get "limited connectivity" error message.

I have followed the various threads and - updated the drivers, use the "troubleshoot problems" menus, switched off and switched on the router, used the cmd prompts and ran some of the prompts that were mentioned so literally did et al! however i still keep getting the limited connectivity message, the last time i ran the troubleshoot.. the messages that i got were:

problem with wireless adapter or access point

The default gateway is not available.

Can some one help me getting this resolved? Do i need to change something in the hardware? i am currently on windows 8, about to upgrade to windows 10.

Regards

Mahesh

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums

Can you try this:

Open Device Manager and open network adapters.

Right click on your wireless device and choose update driver.

Select browse my computer for driver software

Then Select Let me pick froma list of driver software

You should have a list there.

Try installing the very top most driver and Try connecting if it give you the same problem repeat the steps and choose the next driver in the list. Install and try again

Let me know if one worked for you

Hope this helps

Cheers!

Thanks for the quick revert, appreciate it.  I had tried this earlier and now again after your post. It still does not work. In one of the messages on the forums someone had suggested uninstalling the adaptor and re-booting as in windows 8 it should automatily install the driver again. I did this too, it connected for a few minutes and then again popped the message "limited connectivity"

Anyother suggestions?

Regards

Mahesh

Hi maheshc,

Thanks for posting back

Try going to device manager and look for your wifi under network adapters.

Rightclick on it and select properties.

Try disabling a feature called WMM,

It may say WMM there or Ad hoc QoS mode

Let me know your findings

Cheers!
