I am using Windows 7 , 32 bit. I noticed that on each update of Windows 7 , the sound disappears (and no, its not muted, and no Bluetooth device ...).
The "no sound" can be observed in the following:
- No Windows sound when login/logout of windows.
- No sound when playing from Internet (Youtube)
- When I try to play a file using windows media player, I get the message "windows media player encountered a problem while playing the file". The file is good and played o.k before the update.
I am using the latest Conexant driver and all seems to be o.k. In the device manager.
To overcome this , I need to reinstall the Conexant driver after each update, which is not acceptable (never had to mess around in any of the previous laptops I had).
Any suggestions ?

hi Lior11,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
You can do this to exclude device driver from Windows Updates
Open a run box (Windows key + R)
Type in sysdm.cpl hit enter
Then click on Advanced System Settings
You should have a windows with Tabs / Go to Hardware TAB and click on Device Installation settings
Now click on "No let me choose what to do"
Never Install driver software from Windows Update then save changes.
Hope this helps
Cheers!
