Re: Lenovo G500 stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

Thank you so much! I can't believe that removing the DVD drive "solved" the problem also for me!

In the past I had the problem with being stuck at the lenovo screen from time to time. But in the same time it started to come up more and more, the dvd drive itself also failed to work. I changed the dvd drive a few weeks ago, without nowing that the removal would change the startup behavior. I had again a working DVD drive but I still got stuck while booting. So for me it is obvious that the booting problems are not related to the DVD drive. Therefor it has to be the connection or the mainboard.

Does anybody know more in detail about this? Is there a chance in having a bootable G500 with a DVD drive again?

Thank you ivanishere!

It worked for me too.

I removed the dvd unit and the laptop turned on without problem (after 2 days with the lenovo splash screen). Removing the dvd unit it's very easy. Here you can watch how to remove the dvd unit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECs9B61b58k

Thank you very much!

Re: Lenovo G500 stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

Hello,  I am in same boat as you, have G510 and occasionaly maybe 1 of 20 times sticks at lenovo slash sreen without circle of dots.  Always can fix buy turnig off and removing battery, but only temporary.  Like you, I have read HHD, optical fixes??  I have a new SSD in place of HHD.  I have cleaned contacts on both and too soon to see if is 100%.  I wonder if 3v lithium MB battery removal is a permenant fix, I also heard Lenovo recommend setting BIOS to default.  I would like to know what the commonality fix is?  By now we should know, or Lenovo should.  A Lenovo rep told me it was a software issue, but I doubt it.  What have you found?

I must say most people remove the DVD and problem fixed, OR is it that they removed the battery to take DVD out and temp fixed?  Was the dvd removal 100% fix, if so, what the dvd issue, might be dirty contacts, as mentioned I cleaned mine and reinserted, time will tell 5/20/2016.  Anyone with advise or story plz reply...

Thank you,

Still a great machine with a i7 and a SSD in it!
