i have the same issue. at first i thought it is ram issue. then by the time i know that its basically hard drive problem. i followed all the ways discussed in form but cant resolve it. at last i find a temporary solution.
when ever it stuck on splash screen, turn off laptop and remove its battery. after that open the back cover by removing two screws under the battery. then unplug hard drive and clean its terminal with rubber . its just precaution measure may be the dirty terminals are stoping it to start. after that plug it again. it will work..
if u want permanent solution then buy new hard drive....
i bought a portable hard drive and backup all data on it.
the bottom line is lenovo laptop sucks.... this was my first and last time i had bought lenovo... next time i would go for Dell. their hard drives and other components are lot lot better than lenovo...specially hard drives

It is very interesting o see results when you try to google "lenovo g500 splash screen"... the fact how many people share the same problem with g500 without solution. I am one of them also.Have the same problem with celeron 1005, but i can see that people with i3, i5 and i7 chipset have also this problem. Got this "cursed" laptop as present for my wife, aworked excellent less then year, then stucked one day in lenovo screen.
Let me share my exerience trying to solve this:
- Remove batery and press power 45sec - helps in 1 of 20 attempts, but on next reboot is stuck again
- Removed and and played with 2 memory modules - not helping
- Removed CMOS battery - not helping
- Playing with BIOS settings - no luck
- Downgrade bios from 2.03 to 2.01 - nothing
- Cleaned all usb ports - nothing
- Cleaned cooling fan - nothing (it was clean anyway)
- Changed hdd - one Win 7, second Ubuntu and third OpenElec installation. With all three i am having the same problem.
I see many people saying that this was hdd issue and that after hdd is replaced the problem is solved. I hope so. In my case, when i replaced hdd everything worked maybe one week before stucked again. Also, a have tested all hdds for bad sectors and they are ok definitely.
Last night i have tried to clean hdd connector and see if it helps. So far laptop is working. I will post here next "stucked" status
Stucked again after few days of working, maybe 10 successfull reboots.

After all possible troubleshooting, removing DVD ram drive from laptop solved the problem. I cannot believe that **bleep** dvd was the problem whole time. I am not sure yet is it DVD faulty or DVD connector on motherboard. Anyway who else use dvd today really Hope this will help other people also.
Mod's Comment: Marked this posting as the Solution based on 2 confirmations that it worked.
