Lenovo G500s Touch sound has gotten weaker

One of the things I loved about this laptop initially was that the sound was very strong. In the past couple of months, the sound has gotten increasingly weaker, such that now I must have it have to basically 100% to be able to hear things. Even with headphones today, I noticed that the sound was very weak unless I had it up to 100%. I checked all the drivers. I'm running Windows 10 and have been for some time. Any thoughts?

Re: Lenovo G500s Touch sound has gotten weaker

Hi there, Bbla  -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

To correct the low audio volume in your speakers, open the 'Sound' control panel (START > CONTROL PANEL > HARDWARE AND SOUNDS > SOUND).  Once open, click on the 'Speakers' device, then click the 'Properties' button.

In the Properties window, click the 'Enhancements' tab, then check the box for 'Loudness Equalization'.

Click the 'Apply' button, then 'OK'.  Close the Sound control panel.

Some users may find below works without Conexant Smart Audio.

  • To get maximum volume out of the speakers, the above setting can be used with or without to Conexant Smart Audio software to correct sound levels.  The two are mutually exclusive.  One does not need the Conexant Smart Audio driver installed for the above feature to be effective.

If it doesn't, try this below as suggested by one of our community user:

  • Go to Control Panel -> Smart Audio and clicked the picture for the equalizer (farthest on right) and raised all the bars all the way up to the top.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo G500s Touch sound has gotten weaker

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to follow the steps you mentioned, but I ran into an issue:

When I get to the "Sound" section in the Control Panel, I only see one option there, "Speakers: Conexant Smart Audio HD." So I went to the "Speakers Properties" of the Conexant Device. Then I went to the Enhancements tab, but this is all that is there on that tab (Below). I didn't have the option of choosing any other options. Thanks!

Re: Lenovo G500s Touch sound has gotten weaker

Could you please Uninstall Audio Drivers?

  1. Type in Device Manager in the Start Screen. Select the same.
  2. Expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers in the Device Manager Window.
  3. Right click on the Device.
  4. Click on Properties.
  5. Click on Driver Tab.
  6. Click on Uninstall drivers.
  7. Click OK.

But, as per the support site, there is no audio drivers released for windows 10 yet. You could still try installing the previous version audio drivers and check if still issue persist.

Update us how it goes.
