Lenovo G505s BIOS Update

Hello everyone!

I have really big issues with my Lenovo G505s laptop.

(A8-4500M, 4GB ram, 7640G+8570M, windows 7 professional)

I have around 20-25 FPS in every game when my charger is plugged in.

When I plug it out, I get around 80-90 FPS boost.

I did research in a lot of forum, and for some people helped that they updated the BIOS.

I searched for BIOS update,I found it(v3.0), but for Windows 8 & 8.1.

Is it compatible with Windows 7?

Can I make any damage in my laptop if I install that?

Please HELP! Smiley Sad

Already installed it, working fine with Windows 7.

All FPS issues seems to be disappeared. Smiley Happy

Re: Lenovo G505s BIOS Update

Sorry for posting later , because I have recently created my profile , but I want to make you an important question. Are you using now VMware or Virtualbox or any other Virtualization Software ?

Re: Lenovo G505s BIOS Update

Yep . I'm using the same model but with different specifications (amd a8-5550m , 8gb ram , 1tb hdd , amd radeon 8550G + 8570M ) . When I had updated my laptop bios from the version 1.01 to 3 , VMware and Virtualbox couldn't work because the AMD-V feature was disabled. I searched for it on the bios to find it but it seems that it had dissapeared , although it existed in the previous version. So , if you update your laptop from this version 83CN12WW(V1.01) to this version 83CN53WW(V3.00) , it will be likely this feature won't be available on your bios . Be cautious if you want to update your bios on windows 10.

Re: Lenovo G505s BIOS Update

Wait, wait, wait...

I also had this problem when tried to install Android Lollipop on VirtualBox, but this AMD-V Feature problem isn't caused by the BIOS Update... These laptop mobile processors unfortunately don't support AMD-V Features. Smiley Sad

Re: Lenovo G505s BIOS Update

Wait a minute , I have checked my laptop processor and it supports it. If you don't believe me , check this website from this link below .

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bulldozer/AMD-A8-Series%20A8-5550M%20-%20AM5550DEC44HL.html <--

The third feature from the end says " AMD-V / AMD Virtualization technology " . On the previous version of the bios , it had this feature and I could enable it . Now it doesn't have it on the bios and it is now disabled from the new version of the bios itself . Unfortunately , VMware and Virtualbox don't work for me from this version anymore . That's why I'm attempting now to find a solution to downgrade the bios version avoiding the removal of the CMOS battery , if I'm not wrong . :-(
