Lenovo G505s not connecting to WiFi. Help required

  • I got a Lenovo G505s laptop for my Christmas and the WiFi was working perfectly at first at home, then I went to my Aunt's for the Christmas get together and my laptop was working perfectly with her WiFi too. My brother advised me to remove a bunch of the start up programs because they're just junk so I did removing the ones he suggested to but when I got home I couldn't connect to my WiFi and haven't been able to since on my Lenovo G505s. Was there a program I uninstalled that is needed to connect to WiFi?

  • I also pressed each of the buttons above the numbers(the mute button, sound down/up etc) just to see what they did(Airplane Mode is off)
  • In order to connect to the net I've been using the Ethernet cable I have in my room; is there something I need to deselect to switch back to wireless connection?

Help please

Re: Lenovo G505s not connecting to WiFi. Help required

hi XavierMoMo,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Are you even detecting the network when you try to connect wirelessly?

are you getting Limited access or cannot connect to the network error?

Can you check under Device Manager if your are seeing the Wireless under Network Adapters?

it should show there like "Wifi, Wirless or 802.11"

Regards

Solid Cruver

Re: Lenovo G505s not connecting to WiFi. Help required

hi Xavier

Are you seeing any unknown device or network controller with an exclamation under Device Manager?

If that's the case Download a driver from Support.lenovo.com.

If you don't have any unusual driver in Device Manager, I suggest you go to the BIOS Settings

Keep on tapping F2 once you power ON the computer

once inside BIOS move to the Configuration tab and see if you have Wireless - set as enabled.

Press F10 to save and exit .

check your device Manager again and see if it came back or if you have a diff device now under device Manager.

Hope this helps

Cheers!

Thank you the driver was the solution. I must've uninstalled it by accident when clearing the junk. Hopefully this is my only thread on this forum as so far every aspect of this laptop has been fabulous.
