Hi, I've had a Lenovo G510 for about 18 mths. Not used wifi yet as I have a wired connection in my house. Decided to check out the wifi today but I can't find a way to turn it on and I can't find any wireless device listed in Device Manager. All I have under "Network adapters" - are:
Qualcomm Atheros AR8172/8176/8178 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
Also no "Other Devices" or Unknown devices listed either. I've tried scanning for hardware changes but no luck.
Why can't windows find the wireless card? It was advertised as coming with a built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter.
I'm on Windows 8.1.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi greenpaulo ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
To start with turn off the PC and turn on using the novo button (item 6 page 2 next to the power ).
Choose BIOS set up from the menu and reset the BIOS to deaults F9 , F10 to save and exit.
Without any cable attached , make sure that airplane mode is disabled. a wifi icon should appear at the bottom of the screen indicating wifi connection . Follow the set up guide page 19 .
Else , proceed checking on device manager to show hidden device on top.
Re install drivers for Wireless from the support site and restart .
You may also check on page 45 to physically check any loose connection of the WLAN card from the hardware manual.
Update us how it goes.

Thanks! Just resetting the BIOS to defaults worked! Wifi showed up straight away after that. Not sure why it was disabled in BIOS in the first place. Thanks for sorting that for me
