Lenovo G510 VT-d support

Hello,

I have a Lenovo G510 with i7 4200 MQ processor. Unfortunately, this processor does not support VT-d. I wonder if I can upgrade my processor to, let's say, i7 4910 MQ. I have read somewhere that they are still in one family. Or if there is somehow a way to enable VT-d within my current laptop.

Thanks!

Re: Lenovo G510 VT-d support

Welcome to the Forums GD!

As per the datasheet, CPU can be upgraded upto Intel® Core™ i7-4702MQ.

Go to BIOS under Security -> Virtualization the VT-d

Let us know if it helps.

Regards,

Shashi

Re: Lenovo G510 VT-d support

Hello Shashi,

I just wanna give an update. Unfortunately the processor you've suggested also doesn't support VT-d. It seems there is no possible way to upgrade the processor, since it may also need to upgrade the whole MoBo, which then would not fit into the laptop casing anymore. The only solution is to buy another laptop with processor that supports VT-d. Nevertheless, I thank you very much for your answer.

Ciao!
