Lenovo G510 output BIOS to external monitor

Hey there!

So a few days ago I accidentally dropped the laptop on the floor and the screen is completely broken beyond repair.

I need to install Windows on it but neither the BIOS nor the Windows setup will output on the external monitor.

Is there a hotkey to switch output during BIOS splash? (Fn+F10 does not work).

Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

Re: Lenovo G510 output BIOS to external monitor

Hello ByteManiak

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

I believe the only way to do this is to internally disconnect the main screen from the mainboard, then if you plug in the external screen, that would be the only one that the unit can detect and would therefore use that.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Lenovo G510 output BIOS to external monitor

Thanks a lot! That seemed to do the trick just fine.

Both the Lenovo splash and the BIOS setup output to monitor by default now.
