Re: Lenovo G510 removal of dust

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

According to your model's User Guide the replacement of the hard drive, memory or wireless card is considered CRU activities.  In otherwords those parts can be serviced by the consumer which means you can also remove the back cover without fear of voiding warranty.  Since the fan is now accessible when the cover is removed.... have fun cleaning.  If you use compressed air to clean,  remember to use short bursts of air as prolong blasts may damage the fan's bearings.

For your reference, here is a link to that User Guide......

Re: Lenovo G510 removal of dust

Welcome to the Lenovo Community djnet71 !

Although the internal DeDusting feature on some models is effective in removing dust, at times it is not effective in removing the caked on dust build up.  In these situations canned compressed air works the best.

The other problem is with some models the DeDusting feature is part of the Energy Management application that was installed with earlier versions of Windows.   With Windows 10, Energy Management is no longer compatible and should not be used.
