Lenovo G510 - screen issues

The laptop screen flickers and has random flashing lines. The HMDI & VGA out displays work on an external monitor. Help

Re: Lenovo G510 - screen issues

Welcome to the Forums Matt.

To fix the flickering problem, you should first check the laptop cables for loose connections. You try updating BIOS.

If the screen only flickers at the start screen then it is possible that your drivers are out of date and you will want to update those before continuing. Also, check is issue persist in safe mode?

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo G510 - screen issues

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Matt !

Is there any change with the laptop's display if you moved the lid in either direction?  From your pictures I would suspect the video cable the goes between the motherboard and lid is bad.  See if moving the lid will improve or make the display worse.

No, moving the lid/screen does not change the bad display.

Re: Lenovo G510 - screen issues

There could be a chance where internal cable loose connections or damaged. Hence I would suggest you to visit the nearest Lenovo service center for hardware assistance.

Re: Lenovo G510 - screen issues

Welcome to the Lenovo Community AhmedYahia !

From what you have described I would suspect either the video cable has a bad connection or the cable itself needs to be replaced.
