Lenovo G510s screen goes black when touched, turns back on if touched again

2017-11-25, 18:20 PM

The title says it all.  I've had this problem for a while, but I don't know when exactly it started since I let others use it.  I have a touch screen and when I try to touch the screen, it works, but goes black.  When I touch the screen again, it comes back on.  It's as if touching the screen puts it in screen saver mode or something.  This isn't my main computer and there's not much important stuff on it, so I don't mind resetting if that's a way to do it.  Thanks in advance.

Hello Moosefasa

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

This posting is for another unit, but I would recommend doing the same thing:

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
