Lenovo G550. Bios dont let me make changes!

Hello everyone.

I have a Lenovo G550 with:

Celeron dual core T300 1.90Ghz with 800MHz FSB

2GB Ram DDR3 PC8500S (have 2 slots, 1 in use)

Motherboard NITU1 (U2E1) chipset GL40.

My Ram runs at 400MHz instead of 1066MHz and I want to change that. DDR 3 in 400MHz is stupid.

I login in Bios as supervisor but it doesn't let me make changes! Why???

Please can anyone help me?

Re: Lenovo G550. Bios dont let me make changes!

Laptops have locked BIOS and users cannot change any settings, can you post the screen shot of Memory and SPD tabs in CPU-z, you can dowload it online for free, google for it. Look at my attachment for how it will look.

Re: Lenovo G550. Bios dont let me make changes!

Thank you so musch for your reply!

I hope this pictures help you and anyone else that wants to reply me.

My targets is to upgrade the old lap top with:

1) additional 2GB Ram (ordered already)

2) Change my CPU with the T9300

3) And in future with a SSD hard disk.

The problem is that i want to have acces in bios in case i have to make some changes.

Re: Lenovo G550. Bios dont let me make changes!

I don't think you can change any settings in BIOS as I have said earlier, your upgrade will improve the performance but don't spend too much on your system as it's about 6 yrs old.

Memory upgrade and SSD are fine, they will improve the performance but I am not sure about the CPU upgrade, you need to check whether it will work, you may have to wait for others to give you some advice about it.

Re: Lenovo G550. Bios dont let me make changes!

If its locked thats bad. :/

I ordered new RAM from ebay for 7 euros and im looking many used T9300 for about 10euros.

I agree the SDD will be the best thing, i was first thinking to change my laptop with the less price RAM+CPU and after the SSD (40-50euros for 240GB for new).

It seems no one eccept you will answer to my problem. Smiley Tongue

Thanks again mate. Smiley Wink
