Re: G560 fan keeps spinning after wake up from sleep

2011-02-10, 3:15 AM

I also see a note from the technician that they upgraded the bios. I sent it in with 2.08 and I got it back with 2.08. What exactly did they update. I also got the computer back very dusty with an unknown substance. At least they can polish off the computer from dust before unprofessioanly repackaging it to me. They did not correctly protect it in the box. They were suppose to put in in the bag inside the phone but they just put the packageing stuff in top. I sent in a new computer and I get back the same cmoputer with parts replaced, looking worse then when I sent it in. Its like going to the hospital with a broken leg, and then the patient it sent out with a broken leg in badages still in pain etc. etc. Lenovo...... Fuget bout it

Re: G560 fan keeps spinning after wake up from sleep

I call back Lenovo to tell them that the computer is still not fixed, and I am on the phone with a lady who cannot find my information. She wants to know my phone number to confirm, so I give my phone number. She then wants to know my cell phone number. I told her she cannot confirm it, since I never gave Lenovo my cell phone number. She insisted she needs it to pull open my account. She then wants my mailing address. I told her she has that address in the system. She says it is not in the system. I told her that my computer was in for service, and I just got it back today, therefore it must be in the system, or else how did you know to mail it to my address. I just told her I wanted to speak with LEO, my case manager and she didn't want to find him. This continued the same with my email address, and I just disconnected since after 10 minutes it was wasting my time. I called back and got someone who found LEO but the second call also took 10 minutes, since LEO must be very skinny and hard to find. LEO who told me that he would escalate my case to have onsite service or they will exchange my product. I am to expect a call within 2 business days, which means before Monday. Interesting... The lack of communications between departments regarding this issue, means the issue is NOT being recognized. It is not the fault of the moderators since they are just being told what to tell us, like puppets. The people in the service depot and the case managers do not know of this issue. Lenovo is telling us lies and telling us these lies through the moderators. To tell the truth I expect NO phone call ever. LEO thinks someone will call me because that is what he is being told to tell me. But the escalation department is just a big garbage bin, or in this case it is probably an email address that gets deleted daily. Nothing is there. Every department is missing connections. Lenovo is horrible at doing customer service and technical support. Even more so, the initial products are designed with problems.....

@All,

A new BIOS is currently in the works and the team are testing if there are any bugs left before releasing it.

The BIOS is to fix the G560's fan which runs at 100% after waking up from sleep.

Awesome, thanks JameZ! :)

Is it also going to be available for the G460? As I said before, it has the same problem.

Re: Lenovo G560 problem with fans

There is a limit to the days in testing, please give us a time frame or you will not be believed.

I spoke today with someone from the North Carolina Lenovo Office, Janice. She does not know of this problem.

I spoke with her today and she told me this is a simple issue, blah blah blah and the engineer told me a setting has to be changed, blah blah blah, and the engineer will call me back on Monday... etc. But Lenovo does not know of this issue and to tell us that a fix is in the works is not true until the fixed is released. This issue cannot wait till Monday it needs to be fixed now!! I sent my computer to the depot and they told me the problem was confirmed and fixed. The laptop was returned still broken. Lenovo has to stop lying. If you work for Lenovo, you are an automatic cheat and cannot be believed.

I do not think Janice will follow up on this issue and she does not believe me that this is a very big problem. I'll give Lenovo a few more days, then I will post her phone number and when she gets a thousand phone calls maybe Lenovo will take this issue Seriously.

I agree, we definitely need some type of timeframe. I'm not expecting an exact date or anything, but at least a figure like "within the week" or something along those lines.

Re: Lenovo G560 problem with fans

On 1/19 I got this message from Mark_Lenovo :

Engineering is working on this and I suspect a BIOS update will be out fairly soon.  I would guess probably in the 2 week time range if testing goes well - maybe 4 weeks if they have complications.

We are at week 3.5 . No news. This means engineering is facing complications. On the other hand, IT DOES NOT TAKE 4 WEEKS TO MAKE A SIMPLE UPDATE. This case should be closed and the solution is to burn your laptop and do not buy lenovo again.

Re: Lenovo G560 problem with fans

It is impossible for these Lenovo laptops to burn; the cooling system is always on, so it can't burn for long! :P

Besides, I am a student, so the laptop is too important for me to burn, besides, I can't afford to replace it!

In all seriousness, I think it is important that we remain calm about this. Don't get me wrong, I'm angry about this too, but attacking Lenovo is not going to help us with the problem.

Can we get an updated timeframe?

Good things come to those who wait! :D

Looks like the BIOS upgrade is out! :D

This is great news, thanks Lenovo! despite what others have said, i think you did a great job listening to your customers, and also not rushing out an update without doing appropriate testing. I didn't mind the wait knowing that it would be thoroughly tested. I'd rather wait than have a laptop that wouldn't turn on.

Anyway, GOOD WORK AND THANK YOU!

I shall test it now, and let you all know how it goes *fingers crossed*
