Lenovo G580 Keyboard not working

Hi.

I have a G580 laptop, and its gets my gray hair :-)

The keyboard is working very strange, the number keys dont work 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0, the numlock is not working eighter, i have to enable capslock to write small letters, i cant log into windows because my password is with numbers, i have tried to clean and reinstall windows twice, but every time it comes up with a windows default account wich i dont know the password for, i cant boot up in safe mode because i dont have the right paasword.

As you can see i am pretty stocked her.. Please Help....

Re: Lenovo G580 Keyboard not working

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of your problem.  Can you borrow a USB keyboard to see if that will work properly with the computer and allow you to enter your password?

You should also do a soft reset just to rule out any possible hardware conflict.  Just do this.....

1. Shut down Windows and unplug the charger / adapter.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds.
4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

Re: Lenovo G580 Keyboard not working

I have tried that, and it didnt work.

Now i am on my 3 reinstall of windows 8, but i dont think its gonna help this time eighter.

Is it possible to install windows 7 instead, just to se if the problem is windows 8 related?

Re: Lenovo G580 Keyboard not working

Since a USB keyboard didn't work, I would give Windows 7 a try.

I had this same problem and I call support and the service provider has collected my Lenovo to adress the issue. I think you have to call the service provider around your area

Re: Lenovo G580 Keyboard not working

Since you are having problems with the Windows 7 install then I would just download Hiren's Boot CD and create a bootable CD.  You can then boot the system with Hiren's and use one of the word processing or notepad utilities to check out your keyboard.   This will save you from trashing your currently installed operating system since these applications will run directly from the CD.  If the problem still occurs with the boot CD then the problem is not with the operating system, but is hardware related.

Here is a link to Hiren's.......
