Lenovo G580: Not able to read cds and dvds: Windows 10 Enterprise 64 - Matsh-ita DVD RAM UJ8C1

Hi all,

I've run into an issue with my laptop  Lenovo G580 that has Windows 10 Enterprise 64. I am not able to read CDs and DVDs. When a DVD is inserted, "Choose what to do with removal devices" comes up. When I click that, the error message "E:\ is invalid drive" shows up.

Please help.

Thanks and regards,
John

Hi johnmangam ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Have you tried different media like Audio and Movie disk ?

How about booting to a live rescue disk ?

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards

Hi Spidey,

VideoCD works well. The DVD isn't working on my laptop however it works on another PC.

Thank you.

Hi johnmangam  ,

Greetings.

How was it if you try to boot on the dvd using a live rescue image similar to this?

This would allow us to isolate if it is OS related .

If uninstalling the DVD driver including ATAPI from the device manager , changing registry may help.

Update us how it goes.

Regards
