Lenovo G580 - Unable to determine Warranty Status

Hi,  I have recently bought a Lenovo G580.  Lenovo Solution Center has a permanent warning saying it is 'Unable to determine the warranty status'.  I have been onto the Lenovo support site, check warranty status page and enter the serial number, it says 'Machine Type and Serial not found in iBase'.  What does this mean?  How can I check the warranty status (bought from a reputable retailer, so I assume there's some kind of warranty attached) and how can I get rid of this message out of Lenovo Solution Center?!

what info is returned if you use your machine type and S/N here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/warranty-status/default.page? ?

Hi,
I get the message I described above - "Error : Machine Type and Serial Not Found in IBase.".  I am using serial number as per label (same as that which Lenovo Solution Center quotes in it's system information box on the bottom LH corner).  I have tried with machine types 'G580' and '2689'.  Neither work.

my apologies. i don't know if the link i posted only works for Think products.

 

try here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/iws.page and select the "ideapad" tab, then select "Lenovo G580" from the dropdown. you'll get a list of phone numbers from which you can pick UK. they should be able to verify your warranty regardless of the pc tool failing.
