Lenovo G770 CPU Upgrade

I know this is a somewhat bad idea. But my warranty has expired, and I think I could use a better CPU.

I have a Lenovo G770 (20089). I think, my chipset is: Intel HM65 (05) and I'm looking at some quad-core replacement.

My current i5 2430M has 2 cores, and 4 threads running at 2.40Ghz along side Intel HD3000 and AMD Radeon 6650M.

In the datasheet for this model, I've seen it can go up to i7 - 2620, but that's a dual core cpu as well.

So my question is, can it be done, are there any quad core cpus I can install, and does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this topic?

Re: Lenovo G770 CPU and GPU Upgrade

I would like to upgrade my G770 with i3-2330m. Is it possible with i7 2630qm?

Like the mainboard (Intel HM65 chipset specifications) it should be possible? Any experience?

Is it also possible to add a graphic card? Some models of G770 have a AMD radeon 6550 card inside?

If you are looking to upgrade, you will want to look at the list of parts in the Maintence Manual.  The BIOS has a "white list" of parts that will work with your notebook including CPU's.

The manual can be found on the Support tab of this site.

Good luck.
