Lenovo G770 connect to external devices

2017-03-05, 21:25 PM

Hi,

I've damaged the screen of my Lenovo G770 (operating Windows 7) to the point where you can view nothing on the screen. I want to connect my laptop to an external device (TV), and have read that you can use the FN button plus the relevent F# key, which in my case is F3. I have plugged the laptop via HDMI to the TV, however the shortcut for changing to an external monitor is not working. I have also tried pressing the windows button and P. I suspect this isn't working as my laptop is at the log in screen and I am obviously not logged in. When turning on my laptop does not auto-snap to the text box for typing in your password, so I have to manually click on this, which is a problem when I can't see anything on screen. So two questions;

1) is there any other way I can connect the laptop to an external device,

2) is there any way of logging in without having to enter my password.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Hello Samhague

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Close the laptop screen as it`s powering up, it should in theory detect the external screen that`s plugged in and try to use it for you.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Hi,

Unfortunately I tried that yesterday but with no result. If there is no other way I may have to remove the hard drive.

Thanks

Sam

Hi,

If you do not have multiple account on the log on screen. Pressing enter once should enable the password box, and should allow you to type in your password and press do a duplicate display.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
