I noticed that the Synaptic Touchpad driver (I updated to the latest version) would stop functioning whenever I do a hard drive-intensive task.
When I run a virus scanner, when I convert movies, when I record anything, the Synaptics driver stops working.
I can still use the touchpad, but all of the original driver features are gone and the icon from the taskbar dissappears as well.
Stranger still, whenever something like this happens, I try to go into mouse properties in the control panel and it ALWAYS becomes completely unresponsive and freezes up. I cannot do anything with the touchpad control panel either.
When I stop whatever I am doing to the hard drive, everything goes back to normal and the Synaptics touchpad driver re-enables and appears in my taskbar again.
