Is it possible to upgrade the Ram in my Lenovo G780 i7 to 16Gig of Ram? I see a lot of places saying 8GB max... Usually the supported Ram is determines by the OS and Processor correct? If I take out my 2-4Gb sticks and replace with with 2-8Gb sticks of ram will that work?

Hi bbenben1 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
As with the product specification set for this model at the time of release :
8GB max7 / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3*, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets * System automatically clocks down for processors with 1333MHz DDR3 memory controller
Technical OEM recommendation is at 8 GB max but number of users able to maximize it to 16 GB as discussed here and here as offered by the shipset and CPU . Couple of challenges so far are BIOS identification and compatibility to be considered.
Do take time to review the discussions as it would give you further ideas on your upgrade plan.
Hope this help answer your query.
