Lenovo updates-december 16, 2016

2016-12-19, 22:49 PM

I have a Lenovo B50-80 (80LT) Laptop.

Today, December 19, 2016, I checked to see if there were any necessary updates on LENOVO COMPANION app. It said

"NO updates are available".

BUT, I then checked on to see if there were any updates by going here:

http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Lenovo-B-Series-laptops/Lenovo-B50-80-Notebook/80LT?tabName=Downloads&linkTrack=Mast:SubNav:Support:Drivers%20and%20Software|Drivers%20and%20Software

I found three (look at the dates they were issued) for my Lenovo B50-80. They are:

Chipset

2.  Intel Management Engine Interface Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Laptops

3.  Mouse and Keyboard

My question is should I install these updates?....or not? (as I have no problems that I can see with the functioning of my computer. ???

Lenovo should have a description or readme file accompanying each of these along with advice to whether a user should updates these or not.

Advice is appreciated! Terry

Lenovo Companion uses the system update plugin.  There is also the Lenovo System update utility.  Both use the same SU catalog on the server.

Updates on your support page[new] take 30+days to make it over to the SU catalog.

This requires Lenovo quality review and the building of SU .XML install wrappers.

Sadly for certain machines, Lenovo decided to not provide readme.txt.

Your SU catalog.. just for reference.  Your 3 new updates are not here yet.

Any older version of your 3 updates are not there either!!!!

If if aint broke, dont fix it.

If your machine runs fine, enjoy it. Wait for the push out to SU catalog.

You dont want to be a victim of a bad Lenovo update!
