My Laptop is G580 20150, and I have so much fps drop!!

Ok When I start the game it's ok it goes to 150-100 like that, after 5 minutes it starts to drop and overheat for no reason. I read a lot of topics, but that didn't help, I wrote to NVIDIA to solve the problem, but that didn't help as well. I reinstalled the laptop 1 week ago and I installed a driver from 2012, the first 3 days it was so good, no problems without overheating or something, and then suddenly it just like I don't know..... start to lag and overheat for some reason. My Laptop is Lenovo G580 20150 NVIDIA GT635m Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Tell me what driver should I install or something I don't know!!!!!!! Ok I just watched some videos and my laptop is 68 C, just by watching videos. I think my cooling system is rigged I don't get it, last 3 days was really good, and now it's overheating by watching a video. Please Tell me what to do, I cleaned the dust with the energy management and outside the laptop too. And I still overheat, I saw the fan it's pretty good. I don't know what did start this overheat please help. It's Getting 60% CPU Usage with nothing oppened. I don't get it it just overheat itself.

Re: My Laptop is G580 20150, and I have so much fps drop!!

Hello Zufuldo

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try running an LSC scan, and see if this is able to find anything for you at all.

1. Please click on the following link
2. Under the section ‘Download’ select the relevant Hyperlink dependant on whether your Lenovo is running Windows 7/8/8.1 32 bit or 64 bit.
3. When prompted, select save and browse to a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded files.
4. Navigate to the folder where you saved the installation file, lscsetup_x86_26001.exe.
5. Double-click the installation file icon to start the installation.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions via the installation wizard that will install Lenovo Solution Centre on your system.
7. Once installed you will have a ‘Lenovo Solution Centre’ icon on your desktop please click to open this.
8. Once solution center is opened please select ‘Checkup’ then ‘Hardware Scan’ and ‘Full Scan’
9. This will take up to 20 minutes, see if this can find any errors.

Has this been happening before, or has this started recently?

It may be something that was recently installed, an update, software perhaps.

If so, I would recommend reverting back to a previous version of Windows, and observe if the issue will persist.

Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: My Laptop is G580 20150, and I have so much fps drop!!

Yes that did happened after the reinstallation. Like 3 days after. And it started to drop, to 10 to 15 you know..And it's too late to do a system restore. But I really wanted to try, because I had a driver from 2012 on my nvidia and it ran the games so smoothly I really liked it, but I don't remember what I installed to get me to that fps drop. Can we say that the laptop is dead, because I have from 2011 and the first 2 years I didn't know that I have NVIDIA GPU, and I ran games with the intel graphics :d. But when I saw that I have a better video card I wasn't getting any lag. But in this year I reinstalled the laptop, installed a driver from 2012 and it was ok it was like 21st of June. It was so smoothly 60 fps without drops, even in minecraft when fireworks came out this wasn't a problem for me. But I don't know what I did install, I think I should do reinstall the windows And Could you please tell me the best driver that I SHOULD Have on my laptop g580 20150 so I can run the laptop smoothly again. Thank you, I did a test with lenovo solution center, nothing, no problem! And can you find me a BIOS driver for my laptop I called nvidia too and they are telling that I have to update the BIOS driver, but I can't find anything on the internet even in your site for my bios........

Waiting for your reply, becuase I really need it, I really want this laptop to work again like it was 2 weeks ago.

G580 - Low fps and drops, can someone test?

I am getting low FPS at random intervals and I suspect the issue might be with the graphics chipset.

Can you test the laptop and see if its a hardware issue with the graphics chipset.?

The laptop

Lenovo g580 20150

Intel B960 2.20GHz

Intel graphics card

Nvidia GT635m 2gb

Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.

Oh, and also Do you have NVIDIA VGA driver for Lenovo 20150 g580 For windows 7 64-bit, I can't find it, If you can help me would be great Smiley Happy

Mod's Edit: Merged OP's two threads on the same issue into one discussion.

Re: G580 - Low fps and drops, can someone test?

Hi, Zufuldo     -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Your CPU / GPU might be overheating and it's throttling down - this would cause your CPU / GPU to operate in a low frequency, thus giving you low FPS. Try to monitor your CPU by using CoreTemp and your GPU by using GPU Shark or Afterburner.

If you get high temperatures, you can try to decrease the heat by:

  1. Using a good quality cooling pad that runs on high RPM or a better cooling in your room.
  2. Replacing the stock Thermal Interface Material with a good quality TIM likeNoctua NT-H1Tuniq TX-4, or Artic Silver 5.

Update us how it goes.

Re: G580 - Low fps and drops, can someone test?

So I see that the video card is not overheating the max is like 68 C

But the CPU#0 went to 82

and the cpu# 80-79C

And I will open the lapotp and remove the dust and will see what happens.

Oh and I asked you for a vga nvidia driver for winodws 764-bit lenovo g580 20150, there's only for Windows 8.1 if you can show me the winodws 7 one would be great.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Zufuldo !

Have you checked over at NVidia's website?   NVidia keeps their older drivers available for download.  In your previous discussion you mentioned a 2012 driver worked Ok.   Here is a driver from 2012 and the GT635M you might give a try.....
