Plugged not charging on Lenovo G500

Hi people so I got this PC since a couple of years and for some reasons I didn't use it until recently, the problem is that i'm not able to use it without a charger because it doesn't charge at all. It always displays "0% plugged, not charging".

I ran the LSC Lite for the battery and it passed the tests without any specific error, the result code was WBA001000-HN9C7F.

Should I replace my battery ? (OS is W10)

Thanks for your help

Re: Plugged not charging on Lenovo G500

Hi Theaulait,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

000 from the error WBA001000-HN9C7F would say non-significant value so it maybe structurally that the battery is ok but the charge cycle may already be getting low / not enough to hold sufficient power to maintain the needs of the laptop.

I would suggest that you first try "Checking the battery pack" (page 23) after being connected to the charger for 1-2 hours without turning the machine on.

Battery indicator should show blinking amber with below 20 % charge. If the battery led is off then we should expect it to show blinking after 2 hours.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Plugged not charging on Lenovo G500

Hi and thanks for your reply
I tried measuring the voltage, it displayed a number below +11VDC so I should probably replace the battery

Re: Plugged not charging on Lenovo G500

Hi Theaulait,

Greetings.

If the battery charge is still less than 11 VDC even after charging attempts of 2 hours then as advised by the hardware manual, it may be time to replace the battery.

Regards
