Processor Upgrade Void Warranty??

2010-03-04, 6:38 AM

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my processor on my G550 and found a great deal for a slightly used processor. Does anyone know if this would void my warranty? The Lenovo Limited Warranty details are very vauge and do not really explain much. I mean I understand if I upgrade the processor and it causes problems to other components that it would not be covered but I am looking for a little more power and my current chipset supports the processor I am looking at. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, it would.

If it's a processor that is already available as a Lenovo option it's not going to damage your PC.

And if you have an unrelated failure you can always put the original back in.
