Processor compatibility

I have  g50-80 touch and wanted to upgrade by processor to an i5 or i7. Can anyone help me determine if this is possible? If it is are there any tutorials on how to do so? Thanks

Re: Processor compatibility

Hi john1f12,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can share your machine number/ MTM from the sticker or check it here (ex 80KR0000US) so we can detail the type of processor your have.

I am not optimistic after checking the hardware manual since it do not offer dis assembly to the CPU that suggest that it may not be upgradable like on this discussion. Most CPU for the model is soldered on the board.

Update us soon as available.

Regards

Re: Processor compatibility

Hi john1f12,

For the 80kr0015us , your motherboard have a soldered I3-5020U CPU as shown in the image below. Such BGA (ball grid array) socketed CPU is not upgradable.
