RAM Upgrade on Lenovo G5080

hello,

I recently bought the Lenovo G5080

Processor: i3-5005U 2.0G

RAM: 4GB

HD: 500GB

Screen: 15.6" HD LED

OS: Windows home

The RAM installed is a SAMSUNG NOTEBOOK DDR3 (SODIMM) 4GB 1600MHz

I would like to replace the 4GB RAM with KINGSTON NOTEBOOK DDR4 (SODIMM) 16GB 2133MHz

Will this KINGSTON RAM be compatible with my laptop? And, will all the 16GB will usable?

Thanks a lot!

Re: RAM Upgrade on Lenovo G5080

Hi 0z0ne_b0yZ ,

Welcome to the Community Forums .

Recommended OEM RAM upgrade

Up to 16 GB DDR3L memory 1600 2 slots  as offered FRU numbers from the hardware manual (item 12 page 80).

Using the DDR4 may not be guaranteed to work , but instead 2 pcs of 8GB per slot as taken from the manual part list are tested to work for the OEM BIOS and chipsets.

Take time to review the highlighted links for reference.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Re: RAM Upgrade on Lenovo G5080

Thank you. I now better understand DDR3 and DDR4.

I would like to know which combination is better:

a. 01 8GB DDR3 RAM*

b. 01 8GB DDR3 RAM* + 01 4GB DDR3 RAM

c. 02 8GB DDR3RAM*

(KINGSTON NOTEBOOK DDR3 (SODIMM) 8GB 1600)*

Re: RAM Upgrade on Lenovo G5080

Hi 0z0ne_b0yZ ,

For me , I go for 2 pcs of 8GB DDR3L (low voltage)RAM 1600

But if you want to try for starters 1pc 4 GB (stock) and just add 1pc 8GB for 12 GB ram specially if you don't do too much virtualization or opening 20 + browsers at the same time .

Regards
