REINSTALL or FIX WINDOWS10


LENOVO Laptop model: 20384 x64 based
Become not responsive, unable to login.

Looking to fresh reinstall with the possible target of Windows 10.

Laptop purchased in Poland with windows 8, polish language preinstalled.
Laptop Win8 was upgraded to Windows 10 lately (bad idea).
Laptop, after working few weeks more or less OK refused to allow for a login.

Scanning for virus with numerous scanners returned zero infections.
Running the sfc and/or DISM never completes; it stops in error.
All the suggestions on the internet point to complete reinstall or Refresh install.
Those options above promise the need for most or all applications loss (BAD).

Any suggestions; options??
Any chance to salvage this install?

Hi LENOVOMIREK , 

 

Welcome to the Community Forums. 

 

Couple of repair tools can be tried including inplace repair .

If the issue is the Windows log in then factory reset (page 23) or clean install maybe needed but would result in data and application lost.

 

Backup of your data should be a priority nonetheless.

I had arrived to similar conclusion AFTER 2 days on line research, going through countless posts, most of them useless.

 

InPlacd repair - this is going to be my next move, provided I can do it.

The only media I have available at this point is usb based build from downloaded ISO, from Microsoft download (I'd asume is a good build).

The build number maches both the laptop and ISO build.

 

The only mismatch I have is OS language; Polish versus English.

I really do not care if Polish OS menu disapires; it is sometimes silly anyway.

 

Please note, I do not have Windows 8 (original OS) Product ID or Product Key available.

Would InPlace repair require one?

 

Please let me describe current issue.

After booting and login Explorer.exe Unknown Hard Error pops up.

Task bar is not available.

After click OK on the Error's OK button desktop/task bar flicker/flash like creazy, few times a second. And untill another Hard Error message, Laptop is not usable.

It is posible to work with the laptop when Hard Error msg is kept on the side.

My guess is video card driver cousing an explorer to crash and restart in the loop.

An issue making repair difficult is that OS does not allow for any new program installation (because Hard error message is kept waiting???).

 

 

 

Any other advise is appreciated.

Hi LENOVOMIREK , 

 

Greetings. 

 

Doing repair upgrade shouls be the same Windows 10 and same language .

It would work both authenticating Win 8 and Win 10 too.

 

I still hope the harddrive integrity is still ok for it to work , else you have to change the harddrive and clean install instead. Try to back up your files as much as you can. 

 

Update us how things go.
