Really weird hard drive partitions!

2014-09-13, 1:15 AM

Hi, I read on the forum about this, but I haven't found any post from anyone with all the partitions I have on my hard drive, by the way my notebook is a Lenovo G480 (20149) brand new and what you see on the screenshot is what it came like from lenovo, I didn't touch anything yet, but it seems to me that 11 partitions is a bit too much right?

Can anyone please explain me why I have 5 partitions that look exactly the same?

Thanks in advance!

OK, thanks for your reply! But all of those are really necessary?? I've never seen so many! From what I read on the forums there is always 4 to 6 partitions, but I have 11!?
Thanks!

I have 8 on my flex 14, not sure on why you have 11, but I really would not touch them. I consider those are recovery partitions and the OKR utility

Re: Really weird hard drive partitions!

Ok, I found something new today about this...every time I restore my Lenovo Laptop to factory settings using the onekey recovery, It creates a new recovery partition on the hardrive of 450mb, and that's why I have so many partitions...now the question is why this happens, because it takes out space from my hardrive thay I cannot get back. Anyone knows how to solve this or if this is normal??

Here is the screenshot from a few days ago,

And this one is from today, after restoring to factory settings using the Novo button (onekey recovery)

As you can see on the first screenshot before restoring the system I had 5 partitions of 450mb each, and on the latest screenshot from today after restoring the system with OKR I have 6 partitions of 450mb each.

I restored this machine several times to factory settings using the novo button because I was trying some things first, before transfering all my data from my previous pc to this one, so I assume that all that factory reset created all this partitions on my hard drive, which I can't remove or do anything at all.

Does anyone knows why this happens and how can I solve this?

Thanks in advance!

You can use a data recovery software to recover damaged or lost disk partition..

WiseRecovery helps you recover lost data from Hard Drives, PCs and Laptops, Memory Sticks, USB storage media, SD card, cameras, cell phones or other storage media. It performs read only operation and will never do any damage to your card or hard drive. WiseRecovery also can recover your deleted or lost files due to situations of corruption, formatting, virus attack, etc. With WiseRecovery you don't need to worry about your lost data any more.

  1. Download WiseRecovery Data Recovery Software, install it and launch it. Click the "Start Scan" button on the main window of Data WiseRecovery.
  2. main2.png
  3. You can see the list of all volumes found on your computer, select the exact drive and click the "Next" button to start scanning. If you can't see the drive, please make sure your external drives are connected, and click 'Refresh' button.
  4. It will take about 2-10 minutes to scan, it depends on your disk size and files amount on the disk. After scanning is finished, you can preview text document and picture files.

Note:If you are not able to get the desired results after Deleted File Recovery, go back to home window and select the option "RAW Recovery" or "Partition Recovery ".

Re: Really weird hard drive partitions!

I just bought a new 5080E5 and wanted to create 3 other partitions like I have on my 460, CDEF but when I looked at how they fked it up, I can't believe I bought this. A year and a half ago I bouht my wife a new Asus and I easily created partitions on that computer with the windows 8.1.

How can I junk this and get what I want and not have the one key renew? This is my number 12 computer since 1993 and I've always done this and never had any use for a one key. I would just reinstall windows from scratch on drive c with all my files on DEF. This is crazyness to have 1000 Gigs or well 886 on one drive. Who came up with this? and putting the drivers on a seperate drive? I will never buy another Lenovo if this is what they're up to.
