The wifi card on the lenovo G505s isn't good at all and I tried to replace it with a spare one I had from a previous laptop but I got that error.
"Unauthorized network card is plugged in - power off and remove the mini pci network card"
Can someone link me to some sort of list of the wifi cards that are whitelisted by Lenovo so I can buy one of those?
Or tell me another brand of wifi card that I can buy that wont give me this error.

Sorry to hear what happened,
The Wifi card that you should use should be on the whitelist and it should have a Lenovo FRU tag on it.
This is the list
Technically the model should match together with the Lenovo FRU tag

This type of hardware whitelisting, and not having control over what I can and can't put in my own device, is precisely the reason I have always hated Apple/MacIntosh. If this is how Lenovo does business then I promise I will not be purchasing Lenovo ever again. The wireless card you provided is crap and forbidding me from upgrading, even after my warranty has run out, is unacceptable.

The list in this thread is over a year old now. Has the BIOS whitelist been updated recently to include 5GHz cards that can be used with the G505s?
Otherwise it looks like a BIOS hack will be called for .....
