Replacing a hard drive Lenovo G500

Hello,

I apologize for mistakes, but English is not my native language.
I own a Lenovo G500 laptop. The laptop works with 500gb hard drive Seagate model ST500LT012.
I want to replace it with a 1TB hard drive. I have 2 questions.
1. What hard drive would you recommend.
2. Can I replace the current hard drive that has a height of 7 mm with a hard drive that has a height of 9.5 mm?

Hi sky357 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Recommended harddrives for your model here on the hardware manual (item17 page 87-88).

9.5 mm HDD are also listed as subtitute for the model as the caddy would allow proper lining and same port socket.

Notice how those are also on the FRU parts list althou you may need to adjust some space to accomodate the thickness and the cover.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards
