SSD for G500 with Windows 10

My notebook:
Lenovo G500;  MTM 80A6 SN: *********; Machine Type Model zz80A6000
I work with Windows 10, and have HDD ATA WDC WD5000LPVT-2 SCSI 500GB
I want to keep the HDD 500 GB on the place of CD and install new SSD to upgrade my notebook.
1. Which SSD is the best suitable for my version of notebook? Is it better to choose SATA II or SATA III?
I welcome an economical version, I used the laptop primarily for photo editing in Affinity, email post and office applications.
2. Will it be necessary to change any settings on Windows 10 or on system settings or other program for notebook to improve computer speed after install of SSD?

Thanks

Julius

Re: SSD for G500 with Windows 10

Hi Julius_SK  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

No OEM SSD recommendation as per hardware manual FRU list soyou may have to decide choosing matched specification else from similar resellers that can vouch its compatibility.

Your current HDD WD5000LPVT-24G33T1 7mm 5.4K 500G HDD  is 3 Gb/s transfer rate SATA rev 2 but checking on other resellers showing SATA 6.0Gb/s would be compatible with the chipset . SATA rev. 3 backward compatibility assures would work still and future options to transfer to another pc.

No need to set any other configuration as you would immediately feel the difference on an SSD .

Other reference discussion here and here. It would be worth reading for additional options.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards
