Hello all. When I start my G50-45 I get this STOP CODE: PHASE 1 INITIALIZATION FAILED, after I get this error the computer says it will try to fix the problem and it starts windows defender and does a Quick Scan, then it restarts and goes through the whole routine again. I cannot get it in safe mode, task manager or anything else. I am using Windows 10. Thanks in advance for your help. Jim

Welcome to the Community Forums.
With issues not being able to launch in safe mode, the need to perform a backup of your personal files is practical as it may be that Windows system file that may be affected.
Reported fix such as going in the BIOS using the Novo button to power on and to disable secure boot (security tab save and exit) specially if doing system restore fails. Other steps may lead to other advanced repair option and may even end up with factory reset.

Hi, Thanks or responding. I cannot get to the deskto[, it keeps restarting then it tries to fix with windows defender then starts the process over and over. I did find the novo button on the side. I used that and got to the "novo button menu". Can i fix it from there?

Are you willing to lose data and reset to factory image right now?
Take time to review previous highlighted links for other repair option if needed.
But if you do not really need any back up and simply want to have it back booting again, then One Key Recovery can be the fastest way to resolve this as long as the partition remains intact.

For the same reason in cases of system file corruption (specially that even basic safe mode is inaccessible), the more that you need to back up all your files on a separate storage.
Using a live media to boot from or removing the harddrive and slavng it on a hard drive enclosure or another machine would help in back up.
It is important that you still backup your data before any attempt of repair is done.
