Sticking Right Touchpad Button

2017-10-13, 15:18 PM

I have a nagging problem on my wife's G570 laptop which I am using for work (until I can upgrade to a newer Thinkpad). The right button on the trackpad has started to stick. It still works but requires more pressure than the left button.

It appears to be crud built up under the button. Is there a way to pull the button for cleaning? Or perhaps flush it out?

My wife wants her laptop back as soon as my "new" Thinkpad gets here and I don't want to return it to her with a buggered button.  :)

Hi leekellerking,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As indicated in the hardware manual FRU list (item3 page 73), the touchpad is secured on the upper cover.

Removing the upper cover itself may require detaching other devices but maybe it would be better if you review the hardware manual here or this service module for the visual guide.

If you are successful, then you can check what causes this aside from cleaning with compressed can air as this can be mechanical in nature.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards
