Hi ggwp15,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Backup all your files as you may soon need to replace your harddrive.

With the sudden shutdown which is expected amongst overheating machines, I suggest to have the fans and vents cleaned and thermal paste re applied. You may need to go to a service center to have this done and checked further.

If you still have warranty, then calling tech support would cover both issues for you.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Is there any connection between my laptop overheating and the external monitor I plugged in???Should I stop doing that or it has nothing to do with my latptop overheating and sudden shutdown??Also thanks for the reply. Its my first time asking a forum.

Hi ggwp15,

Greetings.

It is possible since external display maybe using the discrete vga chip. But definitely, you need to change your harddrive.

If you have warranty, this is covered as you are expected to use the discrete chip to work with or without being connected to any external display as normal function. Cleaning the fan and vents and reapplying thermal paste can help. Otherwise you should have it checked with the sesrvice center for further isolation.

Regards
